This seasonal double IPA gives aromas that are super fresh with ripe peach, tangerine, and grapefruit (yum!). Malt flavors deliver an abundance of caramel drizzled sweet bread. The hop spectrum is quite vast, touching on peach, apricot, fresh cut grass, grapefruit rind, juicy pineapple, guava, other tropical fruits, and finally ending off with a spicy finish. Some slight off-flavors like garlic and soap sort of disrupt the palate without you being able to put your finger on what’s not working correctly (perhaps due to the odd way the two hop varieties combine). The feel is chewy, yet smooth and medium in carbonation. The range in hop flavor is delicious, fresh and juicy. It’s a solid double in many ways…sweet pairs with bitterness in good balance, and the fruity flavors are very attractive. Both Mosiac and Nugget hop varieties are uncommon, and I’m nut sure why, because the fruity nature is a nice change up from the standard attention given to citrus. Even when paired with an aggressive bitterness it’s pretty damn sweet. Not bad, but needs some work. Still recommended.
Hops: Mosaic, Nugget
